(More customer reviews)This little lantern is listed as 8" tall, and it truly is small. Also, the base and handle are plastic, not metal, but that's impossible to tell unless you pick it up. It is darling to look at, and fits perfectly on my mantle. If you are looking for a "normal sized" hurricane lantern, you will be disappointed. With 3 AA batteries, the candle power isn't the best, but still sufficient to act as a nightlight. I like it and it meets my needs, but I'm not convinced it's worth the price. Maybe something in the $12-14 range would be more appropriate. If you're looking for a more substantial piece, you should probably look at one in the $30+ range.
