(More customer reviews)I've been using both Oil LAMPS and OIL CANDLES for 45 years, yes, there is a difference.
Whereas Oil LAMPS with flat wicks & a chimney can use a lesser grade of lamp oil because as long as you trim the wick evenly and adjust the flame with the dial mechanism, it should burn fairly evenly without smoke, soot & sputter... Oil CANDLES that have a round wick and a bare candle-sized flame needs to be trimmed down to the level of the wick holder or it smokes and sputters like crazy! In fact, the reason you find so many used Wolfard Oil Lamps up for sale is because people don't know the difference.
Lamplight 60001 ULTRA-PURE Lamp Oil makes all the difference in the world! It is very forgiving.. it gives you the option of adjusting the size of your flame (within reason) without the bothersome ordeal of repeatedly re-adjusting the to avoid smoking.
I also love the fact that it's relatively orderless (compared with kerosene grade oils) while standing & burning. and that it's as sparkling clear as spring water.. which as far as I'm concerned, adds to it's beauty when used in a decorative crystal oil candle.
This is my 2nd order of 100oz bottle from acehardwareoutlet.. and at this price, I intend to by more between now and next Winter.
