They provide excellent wall washing light and they are an excellent choice for doorways (per code requirements) if you want to avoid light pollution or blasting your neighbors. The small version is fine for residential applications. If you have concerns, test a 3 / 5/ 7 watt LED floodlight bulb first then decide. Neighbors comment on the "quality" of the light.
The back plate is not super heavy duty; I ended up adding some expandable material to get a tighter fit against the wall. The fit was important for good waterproofing.
Note these light cannot be attached to a dimmer.
