(More customer reviews)The small bowl on top is loose, so you can fill it with warm water and a few drops of an essential oil. Then slide in a tea light and you're good to go -- incense without the harmful particles to filter with your lungs.
Beautifully carved, and it's a pleasure to have any object that's not made as cheaply as possible out of plastic. The package promises that this little lamp is eco-friendly, fair trade and a cottage industry. It's well-made and well-packaged. A real treasure.
Obviously you KNOW not to turn your back (or leave the room) on a burning candle, yes? Heaven forbid that someone get themselves bent out of shape claiming that they didn't know that a candle flame produces heat.
Highly recommended. A wonderful little solution.

(More customer reviews)The subtle clean scents that I have used from Parfum de Maison (Borneo Teak wood, Ocean Mist) have been delightful and help to create a "Spa like" ambiance. The diffusing bottles are a bit pricy but they are decorative and have a unique charm. I avoid the Glade / Renuzit Isle in the supermarket, so if you like those strong artificial scents don't bother spending the extra money on this.

Aladdin Mantle Lamp R103 Lox-On Chimney Review

(More customer reviews)I have not found the Aladdin R103 Lox-On chimney overly delicate but I do suggest that you check the securing ring (around the burner assembly) before you attempt to set-and-lock the chimney down.
This Lox-On chimney is not for the more recently sold Aladdin Lamps as they have gone to a 'heel-less' design in which the chimney 'seats' inside of metal 'fingers' around the burner assembly.
With the Lox-On chimney there are some slight 'bumps' in the glass at the base of the chimney which are captured under ridges around the periphery of the securing ring (around the burner assembly) when the chimney is rotated about 30 degrees. I once had an instance where a long unused burner caused a problem when securing the Lox-On chimney due to the securing ridges (around the burner) not quite providing the clearance that was needed. The securing ridges should only provide a snug enough fit for the chimney (when it is rotated) to keep it from moving - it should not be tight as the chimney gets very hot during lamp operation and a bit of room for expansion must be allowed for. The securing ridges are of lightweight metal so making slight adjustments is easily accomplished.
Be very aware that you are dealing with a thin glass structure when handling and fitting the chimney. Insert the chimney gently into the securing ridges (around the burner) and turn it very delicately. If it won't turn that look closely at what is happening and you will probably find that the securing ridges are not providing the needed clearance. Do not try to force the chimney when locking or it will break in your hands.

Iridescent Tear Drop Handblown Glass Oil Lamp Set Review

(More customer reviews)The large one needed a longer glass "wick-holder", I think. We have a few of these type oil candles. We lose power 3 to 5 times a year. All of the other candles have a wick-holder that extends almost to the bottom of the candle, except this one. The large oil candle will go out when it's still over half-full. The small one works good.

Okay for cheap use on patios for a party, but for a real emergency lantern, you're way better off going to an antique store and getting a real, solid old steel American or German hurricane lantern. This only cosmetically looks like them...I'm not even sure it's a real cold blast lantern, I don't think the side tubes are actually functional.

They are fragile, and though they were extremely well packaged, one of the candles was broken. The vendor quickly and easily replaced it. The pricing is great compared to the others I've seen.

(More customer reviews)It wasn't clear to me that you have to pour the lamp oil into the tiny opening at the top of this glass insert. If you don't have a very small funnel you will end up pouring half the lamp oil all over the floor. Lamp oil is expensive and messy. Fill the insert over the sink. I'm not sure what the capacity of the insert is - perhaps 2oz - but it's only enough to burn for about 10 minutes. It's hard to get into the romantic mood if you have to keep refilling your candle with messy, smelly lamp oil every 10 minutes.
I was expecting the insert to be open at the bottom and the wick to reach the bottom of the bottle. Then I'd fill the bottle with lamp oil and my candle would burn for several hours. That's not what we're buying here.
The stem part is 5" long. If you have a short wine bottle, maybe 6" tall, you could carefully knock off the bottom with a hammer and you'd have a decent candle. None of my wine bottles are that short - not even the port.
I don't recommend this product.

I had pulled the coil down as far as possible but the coil would unravel which caused a large flame. I wanted them for the deck posts but I'm too afraid they will start the deck on fire. The other issue is they are very hard to put out. I tried blowing and using a snuffer. I would recommend the company put caps with chains like tiki torches have. I still like the item.

Wolfard 12 Inch Oil Lamp Review

Then last year we bought two of Wolfard's oil "candles" to go into tall floor standing wrought iron candle holders so we didn't have to worry about pedestal candles for them. The oil "candle" is simply a different style where the oil unit is at the top rather than in the middle of the outer glass envelop. The size I ordered was a little short for our purpose and Wolfard quickly exchanged us for the next larger size with no problems (of course, the larger size cost more and we gladly paid that). We love all five of our Wolfard lamps and used them frequently.
